Rare Quran Copy to Be Displayed in Riyadh

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - A rare copy of the Holy Quran dating back to the Ottoman era will be exhibited at Saudi Arabia’s national museum in Riyadh. The copy belongs to Russia’s Hermitage Museum, which will be loaned to the Saudi museum.  A number of historical items from the Middle East and Near East countries are to be displayed at the museum in an exhibition, the report said.  Director of Hermitage Museum Dr. Mikhail Piotrovsky said the museum needs to discuss loaning the Quran copy with the Center for Oriental Studies affiliated to Russia’s Academy of Sciences.  The Near East is a geographical term that refers to an area covering countries in western Asia including Palestine, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Turkey, Cyprus and Iraq./129
